How To: Mix a Hurricane Cocktail

Mix a Hurricane Cocktail

How to Mix a Hurricane

Step 1 1 oz of dark rum

Caption Morgan is the most popular brand of rum to use. But if you like a kick to your drink, use Bacardi 151.

Warnings

  • Be concise when using 151. Remember it has a higher alcohol content. Three or four drinks mixed with 151 may creep on you. Your best bet is to stick with 80 proof alcohol.

Step 2 1 oz light rum (clear rum)

For those who are not mixologists, light rum is known as "white" or "silver" rum. Below I will list names of light rums:

  • Bacardi Superior
  • Bacardi Lemon
  • Bacardi Razz (raspberry)
  • Cruzan Orange
  • Cruzan Mango
  • Cruzan Pineapple
  • Malibu Coconut
  • Malibu Passion Fruit

Step 3 2 oz passion fruit juice

There are many different fruit juices. Go to your local grocery store and you will find an entire shelf of fruit juices. Below I will list some brand names:

  • Ceres
  • Welch's
  • Goya

Step 4 1 tsp of grenadine

Grenadine is a red syrup. Do not use more than 1 tsp. I suggest Finest Call Grenadine.

Step 5 Juice of half a lime

If you're planning on having one or two drinks for yourself, one lime will be fine. But if you're planning on having a party, you better stock up on limes. Trust me, you will use limes quicker than you think.

Step 6 1 cup of crushed ice

If you do not have an ice machine in your fridge, your best bet is to go to the store and buy a bag of ice. Do not use ice cubes. They are harder to blend.

Step 7 Blend all ingredients, serve in large cocktail glass.

Tips

  • Do not use ice cubes.
  • Be concise when mixing 151 rum.
  • Add your choice of orange, lime, lemon, or pineapple wedge.
  • SIT BACK AND ENJOY!
